Memorial service for Barry James Roder, 58, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of Doug and Susan Roder. Mr. Roder was born on December 12, 1954 and passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013. He was the son of Doris Holler Roder and the late LeRoy Roder. Surviving are his son, Roy Roder of Lexington, SC; mother, Doris Katherine Roder of Lexington, SC; brother, Doug Roder and his wife Susan of Lexington, SC; nieces and nephews, Ryan and Kimberly Hall of Blythewood, SC, Danielle Jason Bedenbaugh of Elgin, SC and Jeffrey and Janet Roder of Columbia, SC. Mr. Roder enjoyed music and playing the guitar. He was an avid photographer and loved to cook. He attended Wayne Valley High School and grew up in Wayne, NJ until 1989 and then moved to SC. On July 30, 1954, Kevin entered this world a few minutes after his twin brother, Craig, in Paterson, New Jersey. Throughout Kevin’s childhood and teenage years, his family lived in the New Jersey suburban community of Packanack Lake. After graduating from high school in 1972, Kevin moved to Ohio to attend Denison University and graduated in 1976. Kevin lived a few years in California and then moved to Dallas, Texas in order to pursue a Masters of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University. Upon graduation Kevin was hired by Datapoint Corporation and moved to San Antonio. In 1983 Kevin married Debra Lorenz and they relocated to Dallas. The Roper family grew with the birth of sons, Colin and Craig. In 1996 while employed by BancTec, the family was relocated to England for two years and upon their return in 1998 they moved to Coppell, Texas. In 2008, Kevin was hired by Metavante and he and Debra moved to Oklahoma City. On September 24, 2010, Kevin passed away from lung cancer. Born in Paterson, NJ, he was the son of the late Bernard C., Schor II and the late Margaret McNamara Schor. He is survived by loving wife Tonia, his children Ryan Schor, Derek Schor, Jared Schor and Danielle Williams and her husband Richard, his loving sister, Peggy Ann and brother Jerry. Gary had a love for hockey, his favorite position was goaltender, and he was a hockey coach. He was a self-employed General Contractor. Wayne – James “Michael” Schumacher, 67, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. Per his wishes, no services will be held. Michael, son of the late James and Grace Schumacher, was a native of Wayne, New Jersey. He was a 1972 graduate of Wayne Valley High School and a member of the Marine Corp. In February of 2020, he and his wife, Andrea, relocated to Greenville, North Carolina. Prior to their move, Michael and Andrea owned and operated A&M catering from 1986-2016. He also served as a volunteer fireman from 1973-2021 at the Preakness Volunteer Fire Company #4 in Wayne, New Jersey. During his time with the volunteer fire company, Michael served as the Fire Chief for several years. In addition, Michael was also an avid metal detector and enjoyed riding snow mobiles. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Andrea Schumacher of Greenville, NC; his siblings, Catherine “Lee” Ettore of Nevada, Paul Schumacher of New Jersey, Glen Schumacher of New York, and Alison Dante of Nevada; along with several nieces and nephews. Born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Carol resided in Wayne for most of her life. She was a 1972 graduate of Wayne Valley High School and spent many hours during high school with the band and continued her love of music by helping the marching band for years after graduation. Her life was spent in service to others whether it be as a high school guidance counselor, in ministry or adopting pets, Carol always thought of herself last.
Carol earned her BA in Psychology and M.Ed in Counselor Education/ School Counseling and Guidance Services from William Paterson University and her M.Div in Theology focusing on Pastoral Theology from Drew University. She was a high school guidance counselor for over 25 years, most recently at Mary Help of Christians Academy in North Haledon. Previously, she was employed at DePaul High School and the former Neumann Prep, both in Wayne. Carol also worked for ten years as a career counselor for adults returning to the work force. In college, she was the coordinator and lead trainer for a telephone crisis intervention service.
